Hey girls! Am here to share something with you before we step into a brand new year yea? (:

a new year = a brand new start amen? :D
God is wanting to do something new in us so we gotta prepare our hearts for God to pour in blessings. :)

Let's step into 2009 with God's plan yea?
Cause God knows us inside out so all we have to do is to be willing and obedient. God is a comprehensive planner.

"Now then, my sons, listen to me; do not turn aside from what I say. " Proverbs 5:7b

"Whoever corrects a mocker invites insult; whoever rebukes a wicked man incurs abuse." Proverbs 9:7b

God is very keen in improving our life. Thus we can't entrust it to anyone but God. Here's a list that you can plan for your new year resolution. (:

- Career
- Relationship ( Friends, Shepherd, Sheep )
- Finance/ Savings
- Spiritual ( Character )
- Health
- Others ( Skill development etc )

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."
Proverbs 3:5-6

We cannot leave God out in our plans.

"Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails."
Proverbs 19:21

God is higher than our ambition.

"Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed."
Proverbs 15:22

Don't let other plans overtake God's plan. We need to step into 2009 with God's provision. If you feel inadequate, you are in the right place. Cause God will definitely prosper us. :)
Some plans maybe successful, some may not. But know that God is there to help us to succeed.

"Carefully follow the terms of this covenant, so that you may prosper in everything you do." Deuteronomy 29:9 ( Follow the way )

God will also protect us. Maybe a question for you to ask yourself is "what is your fear?"
Eg: Your future, boyfriend, aged parents, finance?

"But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one."
2 Thess 3:3

God gives us a hope and a future. Without God, there is no purpose in life. Life with God = sure of your destiny, and purpose. Do something with purpose.

"So there is hope for your future,"declares the LORD. "Your children will return to their own land." Jeremiah 31:17

Step into 2009 also with a heart seeking after God. Seek him with all our hearts, and not to miss out the grace of God. Law can change us for awhile but grace change us forever. Start it well with a bang! Get your heart right people.

"But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul." Deuteronomy 4:29

"The LORD did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples. But it was because the LORD loved you and kept the oath he swore to your forefathers that he brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt." Deuteronomy 7:7-8

The Time of Your Life by Rick Warren

Make the most of every chance you get. These are desperate times! Ephesians 5:16 (MSG)

Why is it that time drags when you want it to pass quickly and flies when you need more of it? It’s not very cooperative!

Time is the great equalizer. We all have the same amount of it. The difference between successful people and average people is this: Achievers manage their time wisely. Rather than wasting time or spending time, they invest time. They make the most out of each moment.
In these difficult days, people are realizing that time is more important than money. Money is a renewable resource - there are always places to get more of it.
But time is a limited resource.

You only have a certain allotment of time in your life. When it's used up ... that’s it! YOUR TIME IS YOUR LIFE.

When you give someone your money, you’ve given them something that you can replace. But when you give someone your time, you've given them a part of your life. This means time management is really “life management.”

The Bible has this to say: “Use your head. Make the most of every chance you get. These are desperate times! Don’t live carelessly, unthinkingly. Make sure you understand what the Master wants” (Ephesians 5:15b-17 MSG).

You could summarize these verses this way:

1. Analyze Your Lifestyle. Be aware of where your time is going.

2. Utilize The Present. Make the most of this moment.

3. Recognize What’s Important. Focus on priorities that last.

A question to consider throughout the day: “How much of what I’m doing right now is going to count ten years from now … 50 years from now … or for eternity?”

You have just enough time to fulfill God’s purpose for your life. If you can’t get it all done it means:

1. You’re doing things God never intended for you to do, or

2. You’re doing the right thing in the wrong way.

Prayer: “God, help me to manage my time wisely this week.”

Faith Is Active by Rick Warren

When will you ever learn that “believing” is useless without doing what God wants you to? Faith that does not result in good deeds is not real faith. James 2:20 (LB)

Is faith simply a frame of mind? Some see it that way … a passive attribute of a Christian waiting to see what God has in store for you: a promotion, cancer, depression, betrayal, blessing, wealth, or injustice. They might say, “I’ll just wait to see what God is going to do for me and go with the flow.” That’s crazy talk.

Faith is active. It’s not passive. It’s a commitment. Look at your lifestyle and see what kinds of actions follow as a result of it. If you’ve got the real stuff, faith can be demonstrated.
When you were baptized you made a statement to God and the people around you. You said, “I’m in!” But it doesn’t stop at baptism – not by a long shot! What else do you do? You start following the pattern of Jesus. Faith is proven by how we live. Don’t misinterpret this. What you do – your walking around, everyday life – doesn’t get you into heaven. It doesn’t make you saved. It doesn’t mean you’re a Christian; it shows you are a Christian.

The next steps:

· Celebrate the lavish gift of grace. You were saved because Jesus is crazy about you and wants you to be with him in heaven. Revel in it!

· Show your faith. Wedding rings don’t make you married, but they say yes in a visible way. In the same way, baptism isn’t the thing that will get you into heaven but it’s an act of obedience. (Jesus commanded us to baptize and be baptized.)

· Share your faith with the people around you. If you are excited about what God has done in your life, then why not share it? There are lots of ways to do that. Get plugged into serving God. There are literally millions of possibilities. Point people to Jesus and love them like Jesus did. It’ll be something you will relish for eternity.

WHY GO TO CHURCH??
If you're spiritually alive, you're going to love this! If you're spiritually tired or probably curious, there is still hope!

Why Go To Church?

A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. "I've gone for 30 years now," he wrote, "and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them. So, I think I'm wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all." This started a real controversy in the "Letters to the Editor" column, much to the delight of the editor.

It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher:"I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this... They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today.

Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!" When you are DOWN to nothing... God is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible! Thank God for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment!

How to Have a Quiet Time (Part 4) by Rick Warren

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:23-24 (NIV)

Follow a simple plan

Someone has said, “If you aim at nothing, you are sure to hit it!” To have a meaningful quiet time, you will need a plan or some kind of general outline to follow.
The main rule is this: Keep your plan simple.

You will need the following three items for your planned quiet times:

· A Bible – a contemporary translation (not a paraphrase) with good print, preferably without notes.

· A notebook for writing down what the Lord shows you, and for making a prayer list.

· A hymnbook – sometimes you may want to sing in your praise time (see Colossians 3:16).

1) Wait on God (Relax). Be still for a minute; don’t come running into God’s presence and start talking immediately. Follow God’s admonition: “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10; see also Isaiah 30:15; 40:31)

. Be quiet for a short while to put yourself into a reverent mood.

2) Pray briefly (Request). This is not your prayer time, but a short opening prayer to ask God to cleanse your heart and guide you into the time together. Two good passages of Scripture to memorize are:

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” (Psalm 139:23-24; see also 1 John 1:9).

“Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law [the Word]” (Psalm 119:18; see also John 16:13).

You need to be in tune with the Author before you can understand his Book!

3. Read a section of the Scripture (Read). This is where your conversation with God begins.

He speaks to you through his Word, and you speak with him in prayer. Read your Bible …

· Slowly. Don’t be in a hurry; don’t try to read too large an amount; don’t race through it.

· Repeatedly. Read a passage over and over until you start to picture it in your mind. The reason more people don’t get more out of their Bible reading is that they do not read the Scriptures repeatedly.

· Without stopping. Don’t stop in the middle of a sentence to go off on a tangent and do a doctrinal study. Just read that section for the pure joy of it, allowing God to speak to you. Remember that your goal here is not to gain information, but to feed on the Word and get to know Christ better.

· Aloud but quietly. Reading it aloud will improve your concentration, if you have that problem. It will also help you understand what you are reading better because you will be both seeing and hearing what you are reading. Read softly enough, however, so that you won’t disturb anyone.

· Systematically. Read through a book at a time in an orderly method. Do not use the “random dip” method – a passage here, a chapter there, what you like here, an interesting portion there. You’ll understand the Bible better if you read it as it was written – a book or letter at a time.

Hi girl, here am I to post an entry about little thing that happen in my life but teaches me something about serving God...

Mainly the core team know that I have sent my hp for repair as my camera is down. So for the past 2 days I have been using another phone of my brother's. I tell you.. that 2 days was a struggle for me because the function of the phone is just so troublesome as compared to my own phone. I hate sms-ing on that phone cos i have to go thru so many steps in order to send one SMS out -_- I really literally complaint to everyone whom i chat with, complaint to my parents, complaint to the air - This phone is super tough to use!!

What make the matter worse is... some of my updated phone number in the phone was lost! which mean ur number may not be the number you are using now but it was the old number.. so I have problem finding ppl. In fact, I lost a handful of contact number of my classmate and I was suppose to update them abt my class chalet next week.. I was wondering to myself.. "how am I suppose to update them when I lost their number?!" but thank God.. I manage to get back all their number thru a few classmates. All in all.. I have all their number at last.

My entry is not to share with u my lost of contact number but I want u to see from my point of view... at time.. we serve God like this isn't it ? We are too used to who we are and what we are now.. when God place us in a new role new function.. we are so not used to it until we complaint why this God, why that God.. we start looking at the bad point instead of a new experience with God. Trusting that when God place u in this role, he will bring you through. When u go thru problem.. do u say " die ar die ar.. hw am I suppose to do this and that?" but instead of saying all these.. why not ask from the source ? ( in my context it's asking from my classmate who has the rest of their number) Ask and it will be given to you.. how many of us really dare to ASK from God who freely give us all good thing??

Reflect in your life are they times u behave like me as well when I first know that I'm going to use a temporary phone for few days and I know it's gonna be uncomfortable and gonna be tough cos im just so used to my own hp that I'm so unwilling to try new phone.

This is what God has taught me... I hope you learn something as well. We shall all grow together amen? =) See you tonight for CG =)

How to Have a Quiet Time (Part 2)by Rick Warren

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Mark 1:35 (NIV)

Select a specific timeThe specific time has to do with when you should have your quiet time and how long it should be. The general rule is this: The best time is when you are at your best! Give God the best part of your day, when you are the freshest and most alert. Don’t try to serve God with your leftover time. Remember, too, that your best time may be different from someone else’s.

For most of us, however, early in the morning seems to be the best time. It was Jesus’ own practice to rise early to pray and meet with the Father: “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed” (Mark 1:35).

In the Bible many godly men and women rose early to meet with God.

Some of these were:
• Abraham – Genesis 19:27
• Moses – Exodus 34:4
• Job – Job 1:5
• Hannah and Elkanah – 1 Samuel 1:19
• Jacob – Genesis 28:18
• David – Psalms 5:3; 57:7,8
• (See also Psalm 143:8; Isaiah 26:9; Ezekiel 12:8)

You might even consider having two quiet times (morning and night).

Dawson Trotman, founder of the Navigators, used to have code letters for his night quiet time: HWLW. Whenever he was with a group of people at night or home with his wife and the conversation seemed to be ending, he would say, “All right, HWLW.” HWLW stood for “His Word the Last Word”; and he practiced that through the years as a way of ending a day with one’s thoughts fixed on the Lord (Betty Lee Skinner, Daws, Zondervan, 1974, p. 103).

Whatever time you set, be consistent in it. Schedule it on your calendar; make an appointment with God as you would with anyone else. Make a date with Jesus!

Then look forward to it and don’t stand him up. A stood-up date is not a pleasant experience for us, and Jesus does not like to be stood up either. So make a date with him and keep it at all costs.
The question is often asked, “How much time should I spend with the Lord?” If you’ve never had a consistent quiet time before, you may want to start with seven minutes (Robert D. Foster, Seven Minutes with God, NavPress, 1997) and let it grow naturally. You should aim to eventually spend not less than 15 minutes a day with the Lord.

How to Have a Quiet Time (Part 1)by Rick Warren

Once you’re convinced that a daily quiet time is necessary for spiritual growth, how do you go about having one? You may be motivated to do it but may not know how.
Start with the proper attitudesIn God’s eyes, why you do something is far more important than what you do.

On one occasion God told Samuel, “The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7). It is quite possible to do the right thing but with the wrong attitude.

This was Amaziah’s problem, for “he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, but not wholeheartedly” (2 Chronicles 25:2).

When you come to meet with God in a quiet time, you should have these proper attitudes:

•Expectancy – Come before God with anticipation and eagerness. Expect to have a good time of fellowship with him and receive a blessing from your time together. That was what David expected: “O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you” (Psalm 63:1).

•Reverence – Don’t rush into God’s presence, but prepare your heart by being still before him and letting the quietness clear away the thoughts of the world. Listen to the prophet Habakkuk: “The Lord is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him” (Habakkuk 2:20; see also Psalm 89:7). Coming into the presence of the Lord is not like going to a football game or some other form of entertainment.

•Alertness – Get wide-awake first. Remember that you are meeting with the Creator, the Maker of heaven and earth, the Redeemer of men. Be thoroughly rested and alert. The best preparation for a quiet time in the morning begins the night before. Get to bed early so you will be in good shape to meet God in the morning; he deserves your full attention.

•Willingness to obey – This attitude is crucial: you don’t come to your quiet time to choose what you will do or not do, but with the purpose of doing anything and everything that God wants you to do. Jesus said, “If anyone chooses to do God’s will he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own” (John 7:17). So come to meet the Lord having already chosen to do his will no matter what.

How To Start Over After Failure by Rick Warren

A man who refuses to admit his mistakes can never be successful. But if he confesses and forsakes them, he gets another chance. Proverbs 28:13 (LB)

Here are four steps to take when starting over after a failure:

1. Accept responsibility for your own failure.

If you’ve made a mistake, admit it. Welcome to the human race! Don’t blame others. To blame others is to “be lame.” Losers love to blame bad luck, the economy, the boss, their spouse, or even God for failure.

But winners never accuse others and never excuse themselves when they fail. In 1974, after an 88-game winning streak, the UCLA basketball team lost to Notre Dame in a game where they’d led by 11 points. The next day’s headline read: “Coach Wooden says, ‘Blame me!’” Wooden was a winner.

“A man who refuses to admit his mistakes can never be successful. But if he confesses and forsakes them, he gets another chance” (Proverbs 28:13 LB).

2. Recognize the benefits of failure.

Failure teaches you what doesn’t work. Thomas Edison, the great inventor, said, “Don’t call it a failure. Call it an education!” Failure forces you to be more creative as you look for new ways to accomplish something. It prevents arrogance and egotism. If everything you did was a stunning success, no one could live with you! Failure also causes you to reevaluate what’s important in life. It’s one way God gets you to reflect on the direction of your life. “Sometimes it takes a painful experience to make us change our ways” (Proverbs 20:30 GNT).

3. Ask God for wisdom to understand what caused your failure.

Why did you fail? Is there any reason you might have set yourself up to fail? There are many unconscious reasons we sometimes sabotage our own efforts:

• Fear of success – Success may mean handling more responsibility than you want to carry.

• Guilt – If you feel you don’t deserve to succeed, you may set yourself up to fail.

• Resentment – Some people fail as a way of getting even with those who are pressuring them to succeed.

• Ask God what caused it – “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all ...” (James 1:5 NIV).

4. Forget the past and focus on the future.

Your past is past! It’s water under the bridge. You can’t change it so you may as well stop worrying about it. “Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on ...” (Philippians 3:13-14 NIV).

Changing Your Behavior by Rick Warren

Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts. Proverbs 4:23 (GNT)

One of the great psychological discoveries of the past century is that your thoughts control your actions.If you want to change the way you act, you must first change how you think.

Actually, thousands of years ago, Solomon pointed this out when he wrote, “Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts” (Proverbs 4:23 GNT).

The Bible says our thoughts influence six areas of our lives:

· My interpretation influences my situation.

It’s not what happens to me that matters as much as how I choose to see it. The way I react will determine whether the circumstance makes me better or bitter. I can view everything as an obstacle or an opportunity for growth – a stumbling block or a stepping stone. “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything” (James 1:2-4 NIV).

· My impressions influence my depressions.

In other words, my mind affects my mood; my thinking determines my feelings. If I’m feeling depressed, it’s because I’m choosing to think depressing thoughts – about my work, family, or anything else. While you cannot always control a feeling, you can choose what you think about, which will control how you feel.“Hear me and answer me. My thoughts trouble me and I am distraught . . .”(Psalm 55:2 NIV).

· My beliefs influence my behavior.

We always act according to our beliefs, even when those ideas are false. For instance, as a child, if you believed a shadow in your bedroom at night was a monster, your body reacted in fear (adrenaline and jitters) even though it wasn’t true. That’s why it’s so important to make sure you are operating on true information! Your convictions about yourself, about life, and about God influence your conduct.“If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples” (John 8:31 NIV).

· My self-talk influences my self-esteem.

You are constantly talking to yourself unconsciously. When you walk into a room full of strangers, what do you tend to think about yourself? To develop more confidence you’re going to have to stop running yourself down! “Ashe thinks in his heart, so is he”(Proverbs 23:7 NKJV).

· My attitude influences my ability.

Winners expect to win. Your perception controls your performance. Mohammed Ali only lost two fights in his career. Before both of them, he said something that he hadn’t said before other fights: “If I should lose this fight […].”“All things are possible to him who believes” (Mark 9:23 NKJV).

· My imagination influences my aspirations.

In other words, your dreams determine your destiny. To accomplish anything, you must first have a mission, a goal, a hope, a vision. “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18 KJV).

Just wanna share with you guys my recent encounter in regards to my result. I came to know about the release of result yesterday when I was together with my teammates at Tampines. They were all talking about their grades. And there I was looking so dumbfounded. I quickly thought of someone who could help me to get access to internet and check out my results that I somehow dreaded. I messaged HuiLing and she said okay she would help me to check tonight cause she's meeting Jul for shepherding so I said okay. And the news came when I was on my way home after my friendly game. She asked, how much do you think you would get? I shrugged and said I don't know. Very bad? She said okay la you got 3.1.

So I was like okkkkkkkkkayy. I don't know how to react, respond of feel at that moment seriously. It is just a mixture of contradictions. =\ To be honest, I can't help but to be really disappointed and discourage cause all this while, my results in ITE has always been pretty reasonable. This is like what? My third semester already. And I just feel very demoralized. Because I have always get what I wanted or even sometimes getting good shocking results. But what happens now? It seems to be otherwise. I started to evaluate and do some self reflection along the way when I was on my way home. So I told myself it's okay. I MUST get over it no matter what. I can't afford to waste my time yet again to dwell on my mistake, weakness or my failure again. I have to stand up and pass this test that God has put me in. And eventually I told myself that even IF I wanna be sad to ponder about this result that I got, I will take tonight as the night to cry, moan, complain, be sad, disappointed and discourage for all I want but just for this night. AND I must get over it the next day. Cause I have all the right to feel sad, bad or disappointed as a student when I don't get what I though I would get or maybe the ideal result, but all in all I still thank God for my resuls that has been wonderfully planned and decided by Him and also having the mentality that everything happens, happens for a reason. I may not be able to see it now, but soon I will come to know about it. Hallelujah! I don't know what else to say but the one and only thing I could do now is to trust God and do my best in the areas of my studies and He will do the rest. Because, when we are ready to do all we can, HE is ready to do all we can't. :)

Hey girls! somehow I just chance upon something really inspiring and interesting that touches my heart deeply. So sit back and relax what I have to share. xD

Lessons on Life

There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn not to judge things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest, in turn, to go and look at a pear tree that was a great distance away. The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in summer, and the youngest son in the fall. When they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe what they had seen. The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and twisted. The second son said no it was covered with green buds and full of promise. The third son disagreed; he said it was laden with blossoms that smelled so sweet and looked so be au tiful, it was the most graceful thing he had ever seen. The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe and drooping with fruit, full of life and fulfillment. The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, bec au se they had each seen but only one season in the tree's life. He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season, and that the essence of who they are and the pleasure, joy, and love that come from that life can only be measured at the end, when all the seasons are up. If you give up when it's winter, you will miss the promise of your spring, the be au ty of your summer, fulfillment of your fall.

Moral: Don't let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest. Don't judge life by one difficult season. Persevere through the difficult patches and better times are sure to come some time or later.

How to Face an Uncertain Future by Rick Warren

Do not boast about [what you’re going to do] tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth. Proverbs 27:1 (NIV)

The Bible offers three timeless principles for facing an uncertain future:

1. Let God set your goals. It’s foolish to make any plans without first consulting God. He’s the only one who does know the future, and he’s eager to guide you through it. The Bible says “We may make our plans, but God has the last word” (Proverbs 16:1 GNT). In other words, planning without praying is presumption. Start by praying, “God, what do you want me to do?”

2. Live one day at a time. While you can plan for tomorrow, you can’t live tomorrow until it arrives. Most people spend so much time regretting the past and worrying about the future, they have no time for today! Commit to making the most of each moment of each day. Jesus said, “Don’t be anxious about tomorrow. God will take care of your tomorrow too. Live one day at a time” (Matthew 6:34 LB).

3. Don’t procrastinate. Procrastinating is a subtle trap. It wastes today by postponing things until tomorrow. You promise yourself that you’ll do it “one of these days,” but then “one of these days” turns into “none of these days.” The Bible says, “Do not boast about [what you’re going to do] tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth” (Proverbs 27:1 NIV). What have you planned to do that you haven’t done yet? When do you intend to start working on it?

As we are starting our 3 mths fasting & praying.. you may want to find out several ways of fastings available...

The Normal Fast: There are very few rules when it comes to fasting. What you do is really between you and the Lord. There is only one fast command in the Bible and that was the fast on the Day of Atonement. This fast was from sunset of one day to sunset of the next (Leviticus 16:29;23:32). Since, people usually don't eat during the night that makes the fast fairly easy, since you can eat again in the evening before retiring to bed. According to the Zondervan Pictorial Encyclopedia of the Bible: "The rabbis ruled that one could not eat a quantity as large as a date on this day...According to the Mishna, Yoma 8:1, on the Day of Atonement it is forbidden to eat, or drink, or bathe, or anoint oneself, or wear sandals, or to indulge in conjugal intercourse" (Zondervan Encyclopedia, vol 2, 502). Of course, this direction is not from the Bible, but perhaps we can look at that as a template for a "normal fast." So in this type of fast the person abstained from food and liquid for a period of one day (from sunset to sunset). This is a normal fast.

The Partial Fast: In this type of fast, the emphasis is placed on restriction of diet, rather than abstaining completely from eating. Examples are: Daniel, Shadrack, Meshach and Abednego eating only vegetables and drinking only water (Daniel 1:15) and later on when Daniel alone practiced a limited diet for three weeks (Daniel 10:3). Some people would argue that this isn't really a fast at all, but Daniel 10:3 does use the word "mourned" which is a Biblical occasion for fasting (see below) and a common synonym for fasting.

The Radical Fast: This type of fast is one in which the person refrains from both food and water OR simply food (but not water) for an extended period of time. A radical fast can be harmful to your health and in most cases should not exceed three days. An example of a radical fast can be found with Esther and her household. Esther decided to fast for three days abstaining from both "food and water" both "day and night" (Esther 4:15-16). The rabbi Ezra and the apostle Paul also went without food and water for three days (Ezra 10:6-9; Acts 9:9). David is another example of a radical fast. He went seven days without food (but probably with liquid) as a plea to God to save the life of his child (2 Samuel 12:15-20). Fasts that extend beyond three or seven days can be found in the Bible, but these exceptions were based upon direct guidance from God or a supernatural ability given by God to complete the fast. Examples of these extreme fasts are: Moses (Deuteronomy 9:9-18 and Exodus 34:28); Elijah (1 Kings 19:8); and Jesus (Matthew 4:1-11).

How to Pray Effectively by Rick Warren

Please remember what you told your servant Moses: “If you sin, I will scatter you among the nations.” Nehemiah 1:8 (NLT)

Here are four secrets to answered prayer from the life of Nehemiah:

1. Base your request on God’s character. Pray like you know God will answer you: “I’m expecting you to answer this prayer because of who you are. You are a faithful God. You are a great God. You are a loving God. You are a wonderful God. You can handle this problem, God!"

2. Confess the sins of which you’re aware. After Nehemiah bases his prayer on who God is, he confesses his sins. He says, “We’ve sinned.” He says “I confess . . . myself . . . my father’s house . . . we have acted wickedly . . . we have not obeyed.” It wasn’t Nehemiah’s fault that Israel went into captivity. He wasn’t even born when it happened and he was most likely born in captivity. Yet, he’s including himself in the national sins. He says, “I’ve been a part of the problem.”

3. Claim the promises of God. Nehemiah prays to the Lord, saying, “I want you to remember what you told your servant Moses.” Can you imagine saying “remember” to God? Nehemiah reminds God of a promise he made to the nation of Israel. In effect, he prays, “God, you warned through Moses that if we were unfaithful, we would lose the land of Israel. But you also promised that if we repent, you’d give it back to us.”

Does God have to be reminded? No. Does he forget what he’s promised? No. Then why do we do this? Because it helps us remember what God has promised.

4. Be very specific in what you ask for. If you want specific answers to prayer, then make specific requests. If your prayers consist of general requests, how will you know if they’re answered?
Nehemiah is not hesitant to pray for success. He’s very bold in his praying. Have you ever prayed, “Lord, make me successful?” If you haven’t, why haven’t you? What is the alternative? A failure?

Is it okay to ask God to make you successful? It all depends on your definition of success! I believe a good definition of success is: “Fulfilling God’s purpose for my life in faith, love, and the power of the Holy Spirit, and expecting the results from God.” That is a worthy life objective that you should be able to pray for with confidence.

Consider this: If you can’t ask God to make you a success at what you’re doing, you should be doing something else. God doesn’t want you to waste your life.

How to Handle Conflict by Rick Warren

My dear brothers and sisters, be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. James 1:19 (NLT)

I’ll tell you how to deal with conflict quickly, but you’re not going to like it. The solution to conflict resolution is one word: confrontation.

If you’re going to resolve conflict, you must confront. But, you don’t have to confront in anger. In fact, you should try not to confront in anger. Lovingly go to the person and, then speaking the truth in love, deal with the problem immediately.

Very few of us enjoy confrontation. The only people who really do are troublemakers who seem to delight in confrontation. They love to go to people and say, “You’re blowing it!” That’s their thrill.

Because it’s risky and uncomfortable, most people don’t like confrontation, but it’s the only way to resolve conflict.

What’s the best way to confront? James 1:19 teaches three rules for confrontation. Everyone should be:

· Quick to listen,
· Slow to speak, and
· Slow to become angry.

If you’re quick to listen and if you’re slow to speak, you’ll automatically be slow to anger.
What are you listening for? You are listening for the hurt in that person. Hurting people always hurt other people. When someone is being a jerk, more than likely it’s because that person is hurting. When you understand their hurt a bit, you have a better understanding of why they do what they do, and you’re a little more patient with them.

Understanding always brings patience. When we don’t understand things, we’re impatient.

When we understand them, we’re much more patient.

You can choose fast anything.. I leave it to u to decide. 1 meal, 2 meals or even like MSN etc.. basically anything that u think u have spent too much time on and you can actually use that period of time to actually pray and intercede for e CG and DI.

Wooh..a new blog skin, designs & templates..waha a great layout too..It’s been a decades since this blog was alive. Well anyway I wanna thank God for placing me in Di6(previous) and DiA2(current). I would also like to thank God for my ex-shepherds & shepherd who had impacted and play a part in my life. I may not be a good but a rebellious sheep, but you guys had really play a very important part to me and bring me back to the right track. Not forgetting those in the CG , each & single every one of you plays a part in my life too:) As a whole DiA2, let’s continue to be a warrior not a barrier and shine for God. There might be times that we go thru trials n testing but fear not. Continue to trust & have faith in Him for he did not promise us a bed full of roses and a trouble free life. How to Get Past Regrets by Rick Warren

How often do you play the “If only” game?

· If only I could do it over again.
· If only I had listened sooner.
· If only I could erase the past.
· If only I could forgive myself.

The thing to remember is that no one is perfect. We all have regrets; we’ve all made bad choices, and said foolish things; we’ve all wasted time, and hurt ourselves and others.

How do you release your regrets? In my experience as a pastor, I’ve seen several strategies we tend to use that simply do not work:

· You try to bury your past. But burying the past will never help you get past your regrets. You can try to minimize (“It wasn’t a big deal”), rationalize (“Everyone does it”), and compromise (lowering standards), but your regrets are still there, and if unresolved, they’ll keep coming back to haunt you over and over again like a creature in a horror movie.

· We blame others. This tactic is as old as Adam and Eve. When Adam sinned, he took it like a man: he blamed his wife!We use blame to balance out our guilt.

· We beat up on ourselves. We try to pay for our guilt unconsciously through illness, depression, setting ourselves up for failure, and other forms of self-punishment. The problem with beating up on yourself is this: your conscience never knows when to stop!Some people spend their entire lives in self-condemnation.

What does God want you to do with your regrets?

· Admit your guilt. Own up to it.Don’t make excuses. “A man who refuses to admit his mistakes can never be successful.But if he confesses and forsakes them, he gets another chance”(Proverbs 28:13 LB).

· Accept Christ’s forgiveness. He’s waiting to clean your slate.Ask him to clear your conscience. “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1 NIV).

· Forgive yourself and focus on the future. “Forget about what’s happened; don’t keep going over old history. Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new. It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it? There it is! I’m making a road through the desert, rivers in the badlands” (Isaiah 43:18-19 MSG).

Hey girls! After all ur one week on hardwork.. Praise God! We have 101 contacts altogether!! Gosh~ This is a breakthrough in our CG.. !! Wanna affirm esp 3 ppls in our midst.. yvonne, eeleng & angelin...

Yvonne & eeleng went to do survey on their own when abi was like teaching them hw to approach and when she turned back.. both were gone! haha! they didnt escape but in fact start doing on their own! woh~ great job girls!!! im proud of all of u ! After coaching angelin 2 days in balestier ITE.. she went to do survey on her own on fri~! cool~! though she only manage to get 2 on her own but tt's very good!

Hey 3 dearies~ I really wan to affirm all of u ! You girls have did very well! Keep it up ! Continue this passion in you and let it grow~ I see how you stepped out of ur comfort zone to outreach though you are new to the environment and have great fear but you didnt let fear stop u from doing what is right.. tt's a very good spirit! Outcome may be important but it is the process I see :)

Hey people.

Just wanna thank God and for all of you that make it sucha happening caregroup on 11th January 2008 together with us namely Mavis (Bao Xian) and Shiyun. WHOOO~
Actually the purpose I’m here to blog is because I think God is really amazing and He works beyond our imagination. Why do I say that? First of all if you guys realize we took pretty long before we finally started cg. =x cause we were practicing and preparing. Apologies for that. And also that its my first time leading praise? First time that abigial is the guitarist? First time that Liping is leading Holy Com? All these are all new and its good. In a way though it didn’t turn out perfectly well but at least still can go with the flow? =x thank God for every single one. Really. If it wasn’t for the many of you that was being so spontaneous and supportive I guess we would have really screw all up. I suppose.

What we did today during caregroup was really cool. Why? Cause I don’t feel like its any other cg that I’ve attended? Well in a way I feel its more of a fresh touch and things like that. Oh wells. Anyway we shared about our personal life, career, courtship and what have you in 2 years down the road. And we were each given a coloured construction paper to write a love letter to God and it goes like this.. “Dear God, …. ” after which we all headed off separately. Me and shiyun took the same bus home. On the way back, since it’s a pretty long journey I took the time, effort and heart out to really talk to shiyun about life, personal story and of course not forgetting our one and only Almighty God. :D

I shared with her about my life. About what it truly means to be a Christian. Its just basically more of a getting to know you, sharing and interacting session. And I came to know that she didn’t wanted to make that decision to become a Christian yet cause of her parents and her granny. So again I talk to her about it and I talk more about life. I asked her not now then when? I continued with an example of the recent hot topic on Emcee King/Jimmy’s sudden death. I elaborated. Using that life just to bring across what I meant life is unpredictable and short. After the bus ride, we went dinner/supper together. =) at bedok inter and we had fried carrot cake, after that we headed home separately. After I board the bus, there came a message. From shiyun. Saying something like that..

These are exactly the same words she sent to me via sms. (:
“After listening to wat u said . I have think thought and decided to take the step and cross the line . I think wat u said is true . ”

Just something to share here.. hmm really thank God for my current job.. it was a great company.. really... e ppl here are christian and in their meeting, i hear them saying " if that's e case, then we humble ourselves down" woah~ powerful sentence... i think very seldom u will hear this sentence in an organisation... and e bosses are all real nice.. God really provide ;) know what? this work place is just one MRT stop away from my house (Kranji) and it starts work at 9am & end at 6pm.. I remember I used to complaint everyday tt im tired when I used to work @ boon lay area cos when i work there i gotta wake up at 615am in e morning.. but now i wake up at 7.30am.. e difference is tt i no longer feel so tired and everything is going well here... boss even said tt if i do well, I will get raise in my pay and send me to courses for upgrading myself.. Praise God for tt ! ;) bosses always ask me when is my CG and where... if needed can leave slightly earlier.. they are ok with it.. see, this job really allow me to serve God even though im working =D All glory goes to him ;) Thanks Jesus! =D

2 pictures... 1st pic is a pool filled with water.. overly flow that no more water can be added in.. 2nd picture.. a half filled pool.. next a verse that goes something like this... unless a kernel died, it cannot produce any fruits.... i believe that God want us to die to ourself so that we are no longer like e pool tt is full where there is no space for God to add in more but a pool that is half filled.. only then God can add in more "water" ( in this means converts and ppl) :) Hope it encourages all who saw tis..
